Our Dogs is delighted to announce that the well known and highly respected specialist canine photographer Ruth Dalrymple has joined the Our Dogs Team and will be in attendance at several General and Group Championship Shows on our  behalf.
Ruth is especially looking forward to covering Championship and Open shows in Scotland, working closely with fellow Our Dogs Photographer Sandra Whyte, ensuring this newspaper has the best coverage for our Scottish readers.
Ruth's interest in photography started as a child. She told us 'I was quite fascinated by images produced both in studio settings and outdoors. I learned photographic skills by tagging along with the local professional photographer'. On leaving school Ruth considered photography as a career but ultimately she decided against that and joined the police force.
However, on leaving the police service Ruth attended a college course on photography to update her skills and embarked on canine photography - her other great passion.  It obviously made sense to combine her two interests 'I started showing pedigree dogs in the 1970's for a friend, then in 1980 got my own dog  to show, a Welsh Springer Spaniel, a breed that I am quite passionate about' said Ruth. Happily Ruth has had success in both spheres. She bred three Welsh Springer Champions, including one who achieved 23 CCs and BIS at the LKA in 1997, plus others with CCs and RCCs'.  In the meantime she has built up an enviable reputation for quality photographic work and has diversified and broadened her photographic skills, taking photographs at other events and not just dog shows.
Ruth also worked with Dog World for a number of years covering general championship shows throughout the UK and some open shows in Scotland. We are delighted that Ruth has now chosen to join the Our Dogs Team of specialist canine photographers, renowned for their excellent coverage of all shows both large and small.
